ESTEVAN — While Saskatchewan Roughrider fans in Estevan were largely well-behaved after the Green and White won the Grey Cup on Nov. 16, one person was seemingly not very happy.
According to the Estevan Police Service, members arrested a man for assault after he became upset regarding the Riders winning the Grey Cup. He was lodged until sober and released the following morning with a court date.
The team allegiance of the man was not released.
The EPS reported it also responded to noise complaints regarding people celebrating the Grey Cup win. The people involved were warned.
Also on Nov. 16, members located a three-year-old child walking alone down a road at night while wearing nothing but a diaper. Police later located the child’s parents and they were reunited.
Police received a report Nov. 15 of people yelling in the central part of the city. Members attended and found a dispute between a landlord and tenants. One of the parties left prior to members’ arrival.
A man was arrested for public intoxication after he tried to gain entry to a building where he does not reside. During the arrest, police learned that this individual was on conditions to abstain from alcohol. The EPS said he resisted arrest and made threats to kill police. The man was lodged in cells. No further information was immediately available.
Police responded to a fight at a local bar. The parties involved had fled prior to police arrival.
Police located a man with warrants for his arrest who was drinking in the Walmart parking lot. He was arrested and brought back to the police station.
Members were notified Nov. 14 of a vehicle being driven erratically east of the city. The vehicle was reported to be travelling at a high rate of speed and passing when it was unsafe to do so.
Police received a request to keep the peace while an individual attempted to gather their possessions from a residence. Members attended and mediated.
A possible assault was reported involving the drivers of two vehicles at King Street and Spruce Drive. If anyone has any information regarding the incident, they are asked to call the Estevan Police Service.
