REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation has announced the winner of its record-breaking Grey Cup 50/50 draw, confirming a payout of just over $1 million, the largest jackpot in CFL history.
The draw was completed Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Mosaic Stadium, according to the foundations’ 50/50 website. The foundation named Wade Gasmo as the winning ticket holder, selected with ticket number SR3-4274566.
Gasmo will take home $1,002,553.
According to the foundation, head coach Corey Mace phoned Gasmo shortly after the draw to deliver the news personally.
“This is the largest 50/50 jackpot in CFL history, and we could not have done it without the best fans in the world — thank you, Rider Nation,” the foundation said in its statement.
The announcement comes just days after the Saskatchewan Roughriders were crowned Grey Cup champions, adding to the celebration for fans across the province and in Regina.
The response to the Grey Cup 50/50 draw has been so big it overwhelmed the lotto provider. Some people were charged more than once, and while refunds were being processed, the draw was slightly delayed.
