COLGATE — Weyburn conservation officers are investigating after a mule deer was shot and left to waste in southeast Saskatchewan.
According to the Sasktip Facebook account, the animal was shot on the morning of Nov. 21 northwest of Colgate, on the east side of the Laurier Pasture. The kill site was approximately 150 metres west of Range Road 2153.
The post goes on to report conservation officers were able to collect some evidence at the scene but were unable to salvage any of the meat. A mule deer season was not happening at the time.
Sasktip says the public's help is needed to solve this case. If you've seen any suspicious activity or vehicles, or you were the one who shot this mule deer thinking it was a white-tailed deer, please call the Turn in Poachers and Polluters (TIPP) line at 1-800-667-7561. Those who report violations may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000 through the SaskTIP reward program.
