REGINA — Regina Fire and Protective Services is giving the public a heads up on some training they will be doing over the next week.
Starting Dec. 6 and running through to Dec. 12, RFPS will be conducting training scenarios at City Hall in the evenings and on the weekend. These are planned exercises and not emergencies, says the department.
According to the RFPS X page, the training is intended to support the implementation of the department's new high-rise fire response tactics.
The training is part of ongoing objectives identified in the RFPS master plan, a blueprint finalized in 2021 for decision-making and a guide to help position fire service for community and economic growth over 25 years.
Results of an internal survey of RFPS staff detailed in the master plan showed training on high-risk, low-frequency events such as trench, confined space, and high-rise fires was sought by firefighters and other staff.
