BUFFALO RIVER DENE NATION – Dillon RCMP have charged two men after 484 grams of cocaine and firearms were seized.
Dillon RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on Buffalo River Dene Nation on Dec. 4, with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Meadow Lake Crime Reduction Team.
Officers located and seized approximately 484 grams of cocaine, a large sum of cash, a loaded handgun with the serial number removed and a rifle. Photos of the seized items are shown.
Two male suspects were arrested at the residence.
As a result of continued investigation, two men, who are both 21-years-old and, from Calgary, are each charged with:
- one count, possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number;
- one count, unsafe storage of a firearm;
- one count, possession of a prohibited firearm;
- one count, possession of a weapon obtained by crime;
- one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000;
- one count, tampering with serial number of a firearm;
- two counts, careless use of a firearm;
- two counts, possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized; and
- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking.
One of the suspects is also charged with one count, weapons possession contrary to order.
The other suspect is also charged with
- four counts, fail to comply with release order conditions; and
- one count, obstruct peace officer.
Both accused are scheduled to appear in court in La Loche on Dec. 8.
