SASKATCHEWAN — A special weather statement that was in effect for much of the province has been lifted, and has been replaced with a winter storm watch for most of the province's southern and central areas.
The winter storm watch was issued in the early afternoon of Dec. 8. It states a low-pressure system from Alberta will travel through Saskatchewan, beginning in the morning of Dec. 9 and continuing until the following morning.
"The most notable hazard with this system will be the risk of a large swath of freezing rain, extending from the Alberta border west of Kindersley, southeast through Moose Jaw, and to the U.S. border southeast of Estevan," Environment Canada said.
The agency added there will be strong winds developing in the evening of Dec. 9 in the southeast.
SaskToday will have updates as they become available.
