LLOYDMINSTER — A Lloydminster man is facing charges, including the wilful promotion of hatred, after an RCMP investigation into what police describe as “credible threats of violence towards identifiable groups of people.”
On Dec. 2, members of the Lloydminster RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) executed a search warrant at a home in the border city. The warrant was part of an ongoing investigation into a man suspected of making serious threats.
During the search, police located and seized multiple firearms, which they say were unauthorized and unsafely stored, along with other evidence relevant to the threat investigation.
“This investigation reflects our continued commitment to ensuring the safety of our community and responding decisively to threats of violence or hate,” said Sergeant Christopher Byford, Acting Operations NCO, Lloydminster RCMP. “We take any form of hate-motivated communication or violence-related behaviour seriously.”
John Charles Reid, 38, of Lloydminster, has been charged with unauthorized possession of firearms, unsafe storage of firearms, and wilful promotion of hatred.
Reid was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. He is to appear before the Lloydminster Saskatchewan Provincial Court on Jan. 12 2026.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information related to this investigation, or any suspicious activity, is asked to contact Lloydminster RCMP at 306-825-6350.
