MOOSOMIN FIRST NATION — Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is investigating the suspicious death of a 59-year-old man from Saulteaux First Nation after he was found unresponsive on Moosomin First Nation earlier this week.
On Dec. 8 at approximately 12 p.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of a man requiring medical attention on Moosomin First Nation. Officers responded and located the man at a residential property. Police provided medical aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
He has been identified as Arnold Thomas, 59, of Saulteaux First Nation. His family has been notified.
RCMP say the death is considered suspicious, and Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes has taken over the investigation.
Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is asking anyone with information about the incident, or who was in contact with Thomas between Dec. 4 and Dec. 8, to contact police by calling 310-RCMP. Anonymous tips can be sent to Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or through their website.
“We are unable to provide additional information about this investigation at this time. Updates will be provided when available. If an imminent risk to public safety is identified, we will notify the public,” RCMP said in the release.
The investigation is ongoing.
