REGINA — The city is dealing with a rough mix of winter weather. Freezing rain Tuesday coated sidewalks and roads in slick ice, snowfall reduced visibility, and high winds pushed drifts across major routes.
SGI is urging everyone to slow down, increase following distance, and assume every road could be slippery. They are also reminding drivers to clear windows fully before heading out, carry a winter emergency kit with essentials like a blanket and flashlight, and give road crews plenty of space to work.
For anyone walking, the advice is simple: take smaller steps, choose routes that are salted, and avoid shortcuts where ice hides under snow.
Residents across Regina are sharing their own tips too. Some keep extra socks and gloves in their car, others run errands during the warmest part of the day, and many are checking in with their neighbours who need help.
Watch our video on SaskToday to see how people across the city are dealing with the weather and the advice they say is helping them get through another Saskatchewan winter.
