ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service has announced it arrested a man for criminal harassment and drug-impaired driving.
According to the Dec. 10 EPS news release, the individual was apprehended after he was found to be following a person in a vehicle. A blood demand was made and charges for impaired driving by drug are pending analysis of the samples. The criminal harassment matter remains under investigation.
Also on Dec. 10, EPS members conducted several well-being checks on people reported to be experiencing mental health crises by family members. In each case, the subject was found to be safe and well, and declined any additional assistance from police.
EPS members assisted with the pack the cruiser toy drive for the Community Hamper Association’s Angel Tree program, which provides Christmas gifts for children in the area. The EPS described the event as a big success and the EPS thanks everyone who participated for helping to make others’ holiday season a happy one.
A false alarm was attended by members at a central Estevan service station. Staff members were found on site and determined to have accidentally set off the system.
Compliance checks were conducted on two individuals bound by court-ordered conditions. Both were found to be in compliance.
The EPS is investigating the theft of items from a gas station convenience store in west Estevan on Dec. 9. The EPS says a suspect has been identified and the matter remains under investigation.
A break and enter into a vacant residence in the Valleyview area was reported. Members attended and found the residence insecure, but the EPS says that due to the condition of the residence, it was not possible to lock the doors to prevent entry. The homeowner was contacted and was aware that the residence was insecure and wanted no further action taken.
A break and enter into a business in the Scotsburn area was investigated and the EPS says it was determined to be unfounded.
EPS members attended to a single-vehicle collision with a light standard. Road conditions were a contributing factor in the collision.
A complaint of an animal being neglected and not having shelter was investigated by the EPS. Upon contact with the owner, the EPS said it determined the animal had shelter and no indications of neglect were present.
Police were called by a citizen Dec. 8 to a report that a young child had wandered to the caller's residence. Police attended to attempt to determine who the child was and where he was from. As police were speaking to the young child, they say they received a report of a missing child. The family had been asleep and discovered the child was missing from the home. The EPS says it appears that the young child left on his own and wandered to a nearby neighbour’s residence. The young boy was returned to his father.
