SASKATOON — A second man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred last April in the city’s Pleasant Hill neighbourhood, in the 100 block of Avenue U South.
The arrest was made on Dec. 10. According to Saskatoon Police Service, members of the Community Mobilization Unit were conducting a retail crime blitz in the 1700 block of Preston Avenue North when they observed a man committing a theft. Police say the man fled into a nearby field when officers tried to arrest him. After a short chase, he was arrested without further incident.
Further investigation determined the man was wanted on several warrants, including in connection to the shooting.
The 28-year-old man has been charged with intentionally discharging a firearm in a reckless manner, aggravated assault, armed robbery with a firearm, possession of a firearm while prohibited, and breach of conditions. He was also wanted for escaping lawful custody and was further charged for theft under $5,000 as a result of the retail crime blitz.
