ESTEVAN – Members of the Estevan Police Service made an arrest in connection with a vehicle theft.
The EPS apprehended a woman during a Dec. 17 traffic stop, when it was determined she had an active arrest warrant from the Estevan RCMP for theft of a vehicle. She was processed and subsequently released with a future court date to speak to the charge.
That same day, members conducted a well-being check on an individual at the request of family members. He was located safe and well at his residence and declined any additional services.
A hit-and-run collision reported from the Valleyview area is under investigation. The vehicle was parked for several days and the damage was noted when it was moved.
An attempted fraud was reported in which the intended victim was alleged to have owed money to Paypal, and the caller identified themselves as a collection agent. No personal information or money was provided to the scammer and the matter has been referred to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
An alarm at a business in south Estevan was attended to and determined to be false by members.
On Dec. 16, a traffic stop occurred on a suspicious vehicle in the industrial area. The driver of the vehicle was suspended from driving and the vehicle had an unauthorized plate on it. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days and the driver was issued two tickets under the Traffic Safety Act. No evidence of other criminal activity was identified during the investigation.
Members attended an east-central Estevan location for a report of a break and enter and a number of items stolen. The matter remains under investigation.
The EPS received a report of criminal harassment through social media. A statement was obtained and the subject of the complaint was contacted and warned.
A report came in of a possible hit-and-run collision at a local business. The investigation is ongoing with a statement still to be obtained.
An alarm at a local business was attended to by EPS members during nightshift. The building was cleared and no sign of forced entry was evident.
Members attended a central Estevan apartment building Dec. 15 on the report of a dispute between two tenants. The matter was resolved upon arrival without further incident.
EPS received a report of a man rummaging through a recycle bin in central Estevan. Members attended and sent the man on his way without further issue.
A request for assistance came in from a homeowner who had locked themselves out of their residence while their young child was inside. Members attended and a locksmith was called to gain entry to the residence.
An alarm call came from a service station. Members attended and located a door that was insecure. The building was searched and the door was secured by a keyholder.
Report of someone throwing items at a residence. Members attended and could not locate any signs that items had been thrown at the residence or anyone else in the area.
A 911 hang-up call came from an area in north Estevan. Members patrolled the area and located the person who called. She was arrested for public intoxication and lodged in cells until sober.
