WEYBURN – The Weyburn RCMP is investigating an incident that resulted in damage to a vehicle while travelling on a highway.
According to a news release from the Saskatchewan RCMP sent to SaskToday on Dec. 19, members from the Weyburn detachment responded to a report of damage to the side of a van that reportedly occurred around 2 p.m. on Nov. 14. The driver reported to police that something, possibly a rock, hit the vehicle while driving on Highway 35 north of the city.
The motorist contacted police after noticing the vehicle damage. No injuries were reported.
Recognizing there may be an elevated concern in the Weyburn detachment area, the RCMP said multiple police officers conducted extensive patrols in the area after the report was received. Houses were canvased and statements obtained. Nothing suspicious was noted by police nor was anyone spoken to.
The source of the damage has not been confirmed through forensic examination of the vehicle.
If anyone has information about this or any other incident, they are asked to contact police. No other reports of vehicle damage have been made to Weyburn RCMP since this date.
