NORTH BATTLEFORD – Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford Crime Reduction Team-Gang Task Force (CRT-GTF) – with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team – charged two men after locating and seizing suspected cocaine and a loaded firearm at a North Battleford residence.
On Dec. 19, Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford CRT-GTF and Critical Incident Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence on 102 Street in North Battleford as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.
During a search of the residence, officers located and seized approximately 198 grams of suspected cocaine and crack cocaine, a loaded sawed-off firearm, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and a sum of cash. The substances will be sent to Health Canada for further testing.
Seven people were arrested at the residence.
As a result of the continued investigation, a 27-year-old man, from North Battleford, is charged with:
- one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized;
- one count, unsafe storage of firearms;
- two counts, weapons possession contrary to order;
- one count, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000; and
- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine.
Another 27-year-old man, from North Battleford, is charged with:
- one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized;
- one count, unsafe storage of firearms;
- one count, weapons possession contrary to order;
- two counts, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000; and
- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine.
The five other people were later released without charges.
The two accused appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Dec. 22.
