After months of Regina motorists learning how to zipper merge or avoiding the area all together, the bridge restoration project on Ring Road over Wascana Creek is almost finished.
The city’s Director of Roadways and Transportation Chris Warren, said crews are currently on the northbound traffic bridge, adding not much work is left.
“For example we still have to do some paving, guard rail installations, traffic line painting and of course final little touches like grading of the slope,” Warren said.
Warren says it’s been close to two months now since the city has heard any significant concerns involving delays or the zipper merge set up.
He adds if all goes as planned everything should be back to normal by the start of November.
“Yeah we’re hoping to have everything completed and have the contractor off the site October 31st,” said Warren.
“Of course this is all weather permitting,” he added.
Once complete restorations are expected to last for 75 years.
