REGINA — The City of Regina has announced service schedules and facility hours for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, including changes to civic offices, transit, and leisure facilities.
Civic offices will be closed on Jan. 1.
The landfill will be open on Dec. 31 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and closed on Jan. 1.
Waste collection services — including garbage, recycling, food and yard waste — will operate on a regular schedule on Jan. 1.
Regina Transit will operate regular weekday routes and schedules on Dec. 31, with extended service until 2:15 a.m. Transit will be free from 7 p.m. to 2:15 a.m. that evening. The Information Centre and RIDELine will close at 3 p.m. and reopen from 7 p.m. to 2:15 a.m. On Jan. 1, no Regina Transit service will be provided, and both the Information Centre and RIDELine will be closed.
Paratransit service will operate on a holiday schedule on both days. On Dec. 31, service will run from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m., with free service from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. On Jan. 1, Paratransit will operate from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The offices at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery and Regina Cemetery will be closed on Jan. 1, though cemetery gates will remain open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Several leisure facilities will be open on Jan. 1 with adjusted hours. The North West Leisure Centre and Sandra Schmirler Leisure Centre will both be open from noon to 6 p.m. The Sportplex Fieldhouse and Lawson Aquatic Centre will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Parking meters will not be in effect on Jan. 1.
Residents looking to take part in public skating are advised to check Regina.ca or CooperatorsCentre.com for specific skate times.
