Saskatchewanians will be waking up to a brand new year on Thursday as we say goodbye to 2025 and hello to 2026. Among the events to take in on January 1st is the annual Lieutenant Governor’s New Year’s Day Levee at Government House in Regina. The event starts at 1pm and is opportunity to meet the province’s newest Lieutenant Governor Bernadette McIntyre as well as listen to live music, enjoy appetizers and beverages, and learn more about the important role of the “Black Rod.” No registration is required and parking is free at Government House.
Danceland at Manitou will be hosting a special New Year’s Eve party featuring “The Bromantics” playing music from the 50’s and 60’s. Doors open at 5:30pm, dinner at 7, and the dance starts at 8:30.
There will be a number of places open and closed in the City of Regina on New Year’s Eve and Day that you should be aware of:
Civic Offices: Closed.
Landfill:
- December 31 – Open 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- January 1 – Closed.
Waste Collection (Garbage, Recycling, Food & Yard):
- Regular service applies on January 1.
Regina Transit:
- December 31 – Regular weekday routes and schedules. Service will be extended until 2:15 a.m. and will be free from 7 p.m. to 2:15 a.m. The Information Centre and RIDELine will be closed at 3 p.m. RIDELine will reopen and be available from 7 p.m. to 2:15 a.m.
- January 1 – No service provided. Information Centre and RIDELine will be closed.
Paratransit Service:
- December 31 – Operating on a holiday schedule 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. Service will be free from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.
- January 1 – Operating on a holiday schedule 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery and Regina Cemetery:
- Office closed January 1. Gates open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
North West Leisure Centre:
- January 1 – Open 12 to 6 p.m.
Sandra Schmirler Leisure Centre:
- January 1 – Open 12 to 6 p.m.
Sportplex – Fieldhouse & Lawson Aquatic Centre:
- January 1 – Open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Parking Meters:
- Meters are not in effect on January 1.
