REGINA — The Saskatchewan Ministry of Health has issued an overdose alert in Regina and surrounding areas on Friday following three suspected deaths.
Between Dec. 30 and 31, the Saskatchewan Coroners Service has detected three deaths suspected to be caused by drug overdoses.
“These fatalities indicate a higher risk of overdose and death from drugs in the Regina area,” notes the alert.
The alert couldn’t confirm the substance causing the alert. However, the Ministry of Health suspects it could look like a long, clear, crystal-like rock and contain crystal meth.
As for countering drug overdoses, the alert says naloxone will counter the effects of opioids, but not other substances. In this event, multiple doses of naloxone could be required.
The alert remains in effect until Jan. 9, at 11:59 p.m.
