PRINCE ALBERT — The Prince Albert Police Service is investigating a series of violent incidents that occurred in the city during the final days of 2025, including an armed carjacking, an attempted vehicle theft and assault, and a stabbing.
According to a media release, police say that at about 9:05 a.m. on Dec. 29, police were called to the 800 block of 1st Street East for a report of a robbery in progress. The caller said a male was giving a ride to four people when he was allegedly assaulted and robbed of the vehicle at gunpoint.
Officers arrived on scene and located the male victim and at the same time, other responding officers located the stolen truck unoccupied at a parking lot in the 2800 block of Dunn Drive. The vehicle was seized by police pending further investigation.
The four suspects, described as two males and two females, haven’t been located. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
Just two days later, on New Year’s Eve morning, police responded to two more serious calls within hours of each other.
At around 8:10 a.m. on Dec. 31, police were called to the 2900 block of 2nd Avenue West for a report of an attempted vehicle theft. According to police, a truck pulled up beside a woman’s vehicle. A female suspect got out, tried to open the victim’s door, and repeatedly demanded she exit her car. The victim was assaulted before the suspect returned to the truck and fled. The victim didn’t require an ambulance as a result of this incident.
After further investigation, officers were able to locate the truck parked in the 600 block of 28th Street West unoccupied. Police then went to a residence where two people were arrested without incident.
A 40-year-old man was charged with robbery. No charges were laid against the 34-year-old female.
Less than two hours later, at approximately 9:50 a.m. on Dec. 31, police were dispatched to the unit block of 28th Street East for a report of an assault with a weapon. Upon arrival, officers located an assault with a weapon. Officers found a man with injuries consistent with a stabbing. He was taken to hospital.
Police say the incident occurred at a residence on that block. One man was detained from inside the home but was later released from police custody after further investigation.
