REGINA — Regina residents have had a mixed reaction to the first year of Mayor Chad Bachynski’s term.
A poll published by SaskToday on Jan. 2 has seen 171 responses to date.
Of those 171 people, roughly 40 per cent (70 votes) had a somewhat positive take on Bachynski’s first year.
Approximately 23 per cent of people (41 votes) were very positive about his results.
On the opposite side, around 13 per cent of people (42 votes) had a somewhat negative opinion of his first year.
Meanwhile, nearly 24 per cent of voters (42 votes) were very negative about Bachynski.
While this poll is not scientific and is based on voluntary participation, it offers a snapshot of reader opinion and helps highlight how engaged community members are responding to the issue.
Bachynski first became Mayor in November of 2024. Since his election, he’s dealt with a wide variety of key issues, including homelessness, building a new indoor pool facility, and helping speed up the process of new neighbourhood developments in Regina.
In a recent year-end interview, Bachynski said his plans for 2026 include seeing how 24-hour construction can be integrated.
He also mentioned incentives for businesses, including tax abatement.
