RED DEER, Alta. — Peavey Mart has officially announced it will be returning to Saskatchewan, with Assiniboia and Yorkton named as the first two communities.
The resurrected business made the announcement Jan. 7. The two Saskatchewan stores are expected to relaunch in March. In a news release, Peavey Mart said hiring is currently underway, with further information available on the company’s website.
Peavey Mart will also reopen its Red Deer location in April. Locations in four other Alberta communities — Spruce Grove, Westlock, Camrose and Lacombe — reopened in December 2025.
“The initial store opening plan included an eventual reopening of stores in Saskatchewan,” said Peavey Mart leader of marketing and e-commerce Meagan Parisian. “The locations that were chosen by the ownership group are reflective of a number of factors these communities hold, including the strength of the stores in these communities, an ease of access to the previously held storefronts, as well as how quickly we could expedite hiring and launch operations in the locations chosen.”
Outside of the seven locations, no further decisions or timelines have been made about other future stores, the news release stated.
As Peavey Mart prepares to open the new locations, it continues work on distributing merchandise to stores. The release said the company is placing a clear emphasis on high-quality, unique and locally sourced items “that highlight the Canadian entrepreneurial spirit.”
"Stores continues to receive stock on a weekly basis, and customers can expect new and seasonal merchandise to be heading to stores regularly," the news release said.
“Our suppliers recognize that we hold ourselves to a high standard and expect to deliver a top-tier experience for our customers,” said Parisian. “They’re working with us to ship items to our distribution centre in Red Deer County, and in some cases directly to stores, as quickly as possible so we can fulfill these expectations.”
Peavey Mart began in 1967 and continued to operate until early 2025. It announced its return late last year.
