SASKATOON — The Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) has concluded its third retail crime blitz of 2025, reporting dozens of arrests and the recovery of thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise following a series of targeted enforcement days in December.
Project Shield occurred on six separate days at retail locations throughout Saskatoon. The blitz was led by members of the SPS’ Community Mobilization, Alternative Response, and Bike Units, who worked closely with store loss prevention officers and private security personnel.
Working alongside these partners, the focus of the blitz was to identify and arrest prolific and violent offenders for a variety of crimes. As a result of these efforts, 30 arrests were made; 15 of which were repeat offenders and 10 were considered violent. A total of 42 charges were laid, and over $2,600 worth of stolen merchandise was recovered.
During the blitz, information was also released about advancements in ongoing investigations occurring in both Edmonton and Saskatoon as a direct result of arrests made during Project Shield.
Police thank their retail partners and community for their assistance throughout this blitz. Community members are encouraged to continue reporting crime and suspicious activity in retail spaces to police by calling 306-975-8300 or, in an emergency, 9-1-1.
