REGINA — A Regina musician charged with sexually assaulting a youth had an appearance scheduled in Regina Provincial Court on Jan. 5.
Jeffrey Craig Salkeld, 64, was charged in December 2025 with sexual interference and sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age.
The matter was adjourned to allow his lawyer time to receive and review disclosure from the Crown. Salkeld is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 2, when he is expected to enter an election.
The charges are the result of a Regina Police Service investigation into a report that a youth under 16 was touched inappropriately in July 2025.
According to SK Arts website, Salkeld has worked extensively with Sask Express in various roles.
Sask Express cancelled performances of The Hunchback of Notre Dame while it reviews the matter with Salkeld.
In a statement released by its board in December, Sask Express said it recently became aware of a situation involving an employee that caused “significant concern.” As a result, the organization cancelled upcoming shows “out of an abundance of caution” while the matter is assessed.
“Our priority is maintaining a safe and secure environment for our community,” the board said.
The cancellations affected performances that were scheduled from Dec. 12 to 17, 2025. In addition to shows in Regina, performances in Yorkton on Dec. 15, 2025, and Moose Jaw on Dec. 17, 2025, were also cancelled.
The charges against Salkeld haven’t been proven in court.
