REGINA — Two men charged in connection with the May 30, 2025, shooting death of 22-year-old Wahkia Ewalk will stand trial.
On Jan. 7, Angus Fox, 32, was ordered to stand trial in Regina Court of King’s Bench. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for Feb. 13. His co-accused, 34-year-old Herb Fox, had already been committed to stand trial.
Angus Fox is charged with first-degree murder. Herb Fox is charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
The charges relate to an incident around 2 a.m. on May 30, 2025, when Regina police officers were called to Marshall Crescent in the Normanview neighbourhood for reports of gunshots. Officers searched the area and found a man dead, later identified as Ewalk, outside a home.
Police secured the scene and brought in additional resources, including the Regina Police Service Major Crime Unit, the Regina Police Service Forensic Identification Unit, and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
Both accused were arrested by Edmonton Police Service in May and returned to Saskatchewan. They remain in custody.
Carleen Ewalk launched a GoFundMe to help cover funeral costs, support her son’s pregnant wife and young children, and assist the family in attending the upcoming trial.
Wahkia was described as a devoted father, as a kind-hearted man who loved animals and often helped those in need. He was attending school to complete his Grade 12 education at the time of his death.
Carleen hopes her son will be remembered as a loving father, husband, and selfless protector. She said his loyalty was unmatched and he was the backbone of their family.
“He was loyal to everyone he cared about,” she added. “He always stopped to help the homeless. Even if it wasn’t very much he still helped with what he had. He put everybody before himself.”
