ESTEVAN – Members of the Estevan Police Service have been called to an assault, a theft, an impaired driver and more in recent days.
A 48-year-old Estevan man was arrested and charged with assault on Jan. 8. According to the EPS, this is an ongoing investigation from the previous day. He was released on conditions and will speak to those charges in court in March.
That same day, police received a report of theft of natural gas from a residence. That matter is still under investigation.
Police were called to a report of a suspicious person in the Hillcrest area. There was a delay in reporting it to police and when members attended, nobody was located.
The EPS, along with Estevan Emergency Medical Services and the Estevan Fire Rescue Service, responded to a two-vehicle collision near the Estevan Market Mall. The EPS says minor injuries were reported and both vehicles required towing from the scene.
A report of uttering threats was received by police and the matter is under investigation.
Police received a report Jan. 9 of an individual failing to pay for fuel at a local gas station. A licence plate was obtained and the owner will be contacted to resolve the matter.
Members were asked to keep the peace while an individual obtained their belongings from a previous residence.
Police stopped a vehicle Jan. 10 and reported the driver showed signs of impairment. The EPS says the motorist performed poorly on a standard field sobriety test and was arrested for impaired driving. Police searched the vehicle and located a small amount of methamphetamine.
Members attended to a domestic dispute between two parties. Both individuals were intoxicated and agreed to separate for the night.
Police responded to two false alarm calls.
Officers were called to an attempted break and enter at a business in the industrial area. The matter is still under investigation.
