REGINA — A 39-year-old Regina woman is facing several charges after a child was hit by a vehicle and the driver fled the scene.
According to Regina Police Service, the incident happened shortly after 4 p.m. on Jan. 9 in the Argyle Park–Englewood neighbourhood on Sangster Boulevard near Boucher Crescent. The nine-year-old girl was crossing the street when she was struck by the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle didn’t remain at the scene.
The girl was taken to hospital for further medical assessment and was later released.
Police say the driver, identified as 39-year-old Safia Nusrat, contacted police the next day and has since been charged with failing to report accident to police, failing to yield to a pedestrian at Intersection or crosswalk, and driving without due care and attention.
Nusrat will appear in Regina Provincial Court at a later date, say police.
