LLOYDMINSTER — A 29-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being shot during an attempted carjacking in Lloydminster late Sunday night, prompting a city-wide search for the suspect.
Lloydminster RCMP responded at about 11:40 p.m. on Jan. 11 to a report of a shooting on 47 Avenue near 27 Street on the Saskatchewan side of the border city.
“This is a troubling crime, “said Jerry Nutbrown, Detachment Commander, Lloydminster RCMP. “All available resources are being utilized to locate this dangerous suspect.”
According to police, the victim was outside when he was approached by a male suspect who demanded the keys to his vehicle. There was a physical struggle, and the victim was shot. The suspect then fled the scene in a dark coloured SUV.
The suspect is described as a male with a medium complexion, heavy set, and about 5-foot-8.
The Lloydminster RCMP General Investigations Section has taken over the investigation.
