Canada’s passport remains one of the strongest heading into the 2026 according to the latest research from Henley and Partners. The research firm bases their findings on the International Air Transport Association, which is home to a massive travel information database. The passport index ranks the countries whose passport will get them into the most countries around the world.
This year, Singapore has the most powerful passport allowing their residents entry into 192 countries out of 227. Japan and South Korea were both second with 188 countries. Denmark, Luxembourg, Spain, and Sweden were third with 186 different destinations while Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, The Netherlands, and Norway were fourth with 185 destinations.
Rounding out the top five most powerful passports in the world were Hungary, Slovakia, Portugal, Slovenia, and the United Arab Emirates whose residents enjoy visiting 184 different countries around the world.
Meanwhile, Canada remains in the top ten, with 181 countries, tied with with Lithuania for eighth place. A passport from the United States will get residents into 179 countries out of 227, good for ninth place. The least powerful passport in the world belonged to Afghanistan where residents can only enter 24 different countries.
