The Canadian Agri-Food Trade Alliance has written an open letter of disappointment to the six major leaders during the federal election campaign.
Executive director Claire Citeau says agri-food exporters and farmers are upset with the lack of serious discussion on expanding farm and food exports during the campaign.
She wants federal politicians to highlight efforts to expand farm trade.
She says there must be more discussion on enhancing access to key export markets and calls for quick approval of the Canada-U.S.-Mexico trade agreement.
Citeau is calling on the various politiicans to highlight efforts to expand farm trade to places like Indonesia, Thailand and South Korea.
Citeau says the World Trade Organization needs to be modernized to ensure smooth farm trade around the world.
She says the future is bright for agri-food exports.
Last year, Canadian agri-food exports reached a record $59 billion.
