SASKATCHEWAN – In what is becoming a common occurrence, a blowing snow advisory is in effect for much of Saskatchewan.
The advisory, issued Jan. 20 by Environment Canada, covers the cities of Saskatoon, Regina and Moose Jaw, along with well over 100 RMs. Other affected areas include Estevan, Weyburn, Carlyle, Assiniboia, Yorkton, Canora, Kamsack, Preeceville, Outlook and Humboldt.
"A strong cold front surging south through the province will give strong northwest winds with gusts as high as 80 km/h beginning overnight into Wednesday morning [Jan. 21]. These winds will combine with light snow to produce areas of poor visibility in blowing snow through the day. Conditions will improve by Wednesday evening."
Travel will likely be hazardous due to near-zero visibility, the advisory states.
It's the third time in the past week that a blowing snow advisory has been issued in Saskatchewan.
SaskToday will have updates as they become available.
