SASKATOON – The Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce is planning an event next month focusing on the policies of the current Prime Minister.
The event on Feb. 11 is titled Carneynomics and Building Canada: What it Means for Saskatchewan. It is billed by the Sask Chamber as a fireside-chat style conversation with national policy expert Tyler Meredith.
The event will focus on the different approach signalled by Prime Minister Mark Carney to fiscal policy, economic levers, and how Ottawa engages with the provinces.
According to the Chamber the event will focus on "what that shift looks like in practice, what the federal government is trying to achieve, and where Saskatchewan businesses and leaders have real opportunities to engage, influence, and drive growth."
The Chamber also says Meredith will offer "practical insight into how Ottawa works today, what matters most for effective advocacy, and how Saskatchewan can position itself in this moment of nation-building."
Meredith is a Founding Partner of Meredith Boessenkool & Phillips Policy Advisors who has worked for Prime Minister Carney and for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, including as the lead economic policy advisor for the Liberals at the end of his tenure there. He is also a Fellow at University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, and Fellow at the Maytree Foundation.
According to the Chamber's news release, Meredith has seen the "governing philosophy up close, having helped craft multiple federal budgets and recent Liberal Party platforms."
The event will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Delta Bessborough Hotel. Tickets are $60 plus taxes for members and $75 plus taxes for nonmembers, with registration on through Feb. 9.
