REGINA — In frigid conditions, Regina Fire and Protective Services responded to several fires in the last three days.
Friday, Jan. 23, when temperatures reached below -30, with wind chills as up to -39, firefighters responded to a house fire on the 800 block of College Avenue. Fire and smoke were showing on arrival and crews made entry, bringing the fire under control. All occupants were out by the time crews arrived, but one person was treated for minor smoke inhalation.
Friday night at 9:49, when wind chills were -35, crews responded to a garage fire on the 100 block of Hastings Crescent. There were no injuries, but there was some damage to the house.
Saturday afternoon, a semi fire near the 500 block of Albert Street N was reported at 2:57 p.m. Crews responded. There were no injuries. Firefighters were working in temperatures of -25 with a wind chill of -30.
