REGINA — The Regina Food Bank (RFB) is working on a leadership plan as its current CEO is set to leave the organization.
On Friday, John Bailey announced he’s taking on the role of president and CEO of Economic Development Regina (EDR) effective March 2.
Bailey is leaving the role of CEO, which he has served since 2019.
In the meantime, the RFB is working on a transition plan.
“The board is working on a transition plan, and so they'll have more information once they're ready to share,” said Evelyn Cerda, vice-president of the RFB.
Cerda couldn’t comment on the timeline of finding a new CEO or the type of person the food bank is looking for.
However, Cerda confirmed the food bank would continue to operate as usual.
“We have a strong team, and everybody's aware of what they need to do. So, none of our programs or services are going to be impacted by this.”
Cerda credited Bailey for setting the organization up for long-term success.
“[Bailey] was actually able to achieve about a 233 per cent growth for the organization. And he really turned this from a $300,000 deficit nonprofit into becoming a financially sustainable organization, so we can invest more in our mission.”
Those investments include the asahtowikamik Food Hub and making their own products.
As for Bailey, he said in a recent interview that he’s focused on connecting with the community and showcasing EDR's accomplishments in the new role.
