CUT KNIFE — The Cut Knife RCMP received 43 calls for service between the dates of Jan. 19 to 25. These files included well-being checks, reports of disturbances, reports of traffic offences, mischiefs, assaults, assault with weapons, breach of peace, frauds, harassing communications, sexual assault, suspicious persons, failure to comply with orders, thefts, collisions, Mental Health Acts, 911 Act, and assisting other agencies & public.

On Jan. 20, RCMP dealt with a complaint that another individual was posting on Facebook a public message about holding people accountable and felt that the post was about them, even though no names were used. RCMP advised that the matter was not criminal and best to block the individual from viewing their content.
In the evening of Jan. 21 to the early hours of Jan. 22, RCMP were called to many travellers who were lost in the snowstorm, with limited visibility. Some travellers were stuck in the ditch, driving off the roads, or not properly dressed for the weather while travelling. All were located and were provided a safe place to wait out the winter storm. RCMP always remind community members to check the weather, and when unfavourable, have backup travel plans in place.
On Jan. 23, RCMP were called to a vehicle in the ditch west of Cut Knife on Highway 40. On arrival, no one was present at the collision, and the vehicle was left in drive with the wheels spinning and doors locked. The investigation revealed the driver was distracted and veered into the snowbank. When they exited, they continued to be distracted and locked themselves out of the car and went back to town to seek assistance. The driver was given some paperwork regarding offences under the Traffic Safety Act.
On Jan. 24, there was a report of an unknown person at the Neilburg Synergy Credit Union. The unknown male left on foot and could not be located during patrols.
On Jan. 24, RMCP responded to an assault at Doogie’s Liquor store in Cut Knife. Individuals had a heated past and happened to confront each other at the store. The matter was captured on CCTV, and the parties involved had been located and appropriately charged.
