ESTEVAN — Members of the Estevan Police Service were busy Jan. 26, investigating a dog bite incident and arresting a couple of people.
According to the Jan. 26 police report, the EPS received a complaint of a child who sustained significant injuries from the dog bite. Statements have been obtained and the EPS says the matter remains under investigation.
A traffic stop conducted north of Estevan for a speeding offence resulted in a motorist’s arrest after the EPS said he provided false information and was determined to be a suspended driver with active arrest warrants from the Estevan RCMP. He was subsequently arrested, charged for speeding and released with a new court date to speak to the warrant matter.
Employees at a store in northeast Estevan identified a woman for shoplifting items and leaving the store. The EPS said a woman matching the suspect’s description was located a short distance away and the investigation determined she had a backpack filled with stolen items. She was arrested and subsequently released with a future court date to speak to the matter.
A man reported being approached by individuals at his residence. They reportedly uttered threats against him. The matter is under investigation.
The EPS and Estevan Fire Rescue Service attended to an apartment complex in the Hillside area for smoke in the building. On arrival, it was determined to be smoke caused by cooking and a fire didn’t occur.
A woman reported an individual to police for attempting to communicate with her while he has no-contact conditions. The EPS said members located the man at her residence and he was arrested for breaching the conditions of his release. The matter remains under investigation.
