REGINA — A 44-year-old man is facing charges following a four-month police investigation into a fatal collision that killed a young woman in Regina’s North Central neighbourhood in October 2025.
Emergency crews were called to the 3400 block of Dewdney Avenue shortly after noon on Oct. 12, 2025, for a report of a serious crash. Police, Regina Fire and Protective Services, and EMS arrived to find a 19-year-old Marvellous Ugochukwu Chijindu lying on the ground near a bus shelter. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
According to Regina police, a freight truck travelling east on Dewdney Avenue failed to stop for a red light at Elphinstone Street and struck a southbound vehicle. The driver of that vehicle sustained minor injuries.
Police say the truck then veered off the roadway, crashing into the bus shelter where the woman had been standing. The vehicle continued on, hitting several fences and a streetlight before. Stopping in the front yard of a nearby home.
Regina Police Service’s Investigative Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team (ICART) led the investigation. As a result, Biniam Emaha of Regina has been charged with dangerous driving of a vehicle causing death.
Emaha is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on Jan. 27.
