Yorkton’s William Leonard put on a show Friday night in Nipawin, and the rest of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League followed suit.
Leonard scored four goals and added an assist as the Yorkton Terriers outlasted the Nipawin Hawks 7–5, capping off a five-point performance that fueled Yorkton’s third straight victory. The Terriers blew the game open with five goals in the second period, turning a tight contest into a track meet and giving Leonard plenty of room to make his mark.
While Leonard was filling the scoresheet, the Battlefords North Stars were extending their streak.
Josh Knittig scored his 14th goal of the season with 13:10 remaining in regulation, snapping a 3–3 tie and lifting the North Stars to a 4–3 win over the Warman Wolverines. The victory marked Battlefords’ seventh straight as the Stars continue to roll through the middle portion of the schedule.
In Estevan, the Melfort Mustangs showed late-game poise.
Kaleb Binner’s seventh goal of the season came with just 4:26 left in the third period and proved to be the difference in a 3–2 Mustangs win over the Bruins. Melfort has now won two in a row, while Estevan dropped its second straight.
The Melville Millionaires turned in one of their most balanced efforts of the season.
Scoring two goals in each period, Melville cruised to a 6–2 win over Weyburn. Hudson Binder led the way with a pair of goals as the Millionaires improved to 6-3-1 over their last ten games.
Kindersley also made noise on the road.
Cobe Perlinger recorded a hat trick as the Klippers earned a 7–3 win over the La Ronge Ice Wolves, bouncing back after a 4–3 loss to Nipawin earlier in the week.
The SJHL is right back at it Saturday night with five games on the schedule:
