REGINA — A 17-year-old male is facing multiple charges after a firearms incident at a business on Angus Street last week.
Police were called to a business in the 1100 block of Angus Street at approximately 4:40 a.m. on Jan. 30, after a report that a male suspect was carrying a firearm and had threatened to shoot a customer.
Investigators say the suspect left the business shortly afterward and entered a residence on the same block.
Police requested assistance from the Tactical Support Team as it was believed the suspect was armed. Officers attempted to make contact with occupants inside the home for several hours before entering the residence roughly four hours later.
The suspect was arrested without incident and police say a search following the arrest uncovered a loaded, sawed-off rifle.
As a result of the investigation, the youth, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession was unauthorized, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order and uttering threats.
The youth made his first court appearance in Regina provincial youth court on Monday, Feb. 2.
