Monette Farms, a diversified family-owned enterprise based at Swift Current is accepting bids on various land holdings in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Montana.
The monetteland.ca website says they are selling select land assets to unlock embedded value and establish a more sustainable long-term capital structure.
Monette Farms was initially soliciting bids discreetly from potential buyers, but the listings were not generally available.
Now, the land listing and bidding process is open to anyone who registers on the website. Ten locations are listed in Saskatchewan including Vanguard, Wymark, Ponteix, Admiral, Calderbank, Raymore, Outlook, Kamsack, Hafford and Prince Albert.
The total owned land base listed at those 10 locations is roughly 129,000 acres. Many of the locations also have extensive land rental agreements.
The Manitoba locations are The Pas and Eddystone with about 49,000 acres. About 54,000 acres are listed for bids at three locations in Montana.
The bidding deadline is March 2. The website says highest bids will not necessarily be accepted. It also says they are open to discussions about sale and lease-back options.
Land deals of this magnitude could have ramifications for the overall land market.
