SASKATOON — A taxi driver accused of sexually assaulting a woman while she was in a vulnerable state has been remanded in custody.
Ferdinando Orru, 65, is scheduled to return to Saskatoon Provincial Court on Feb. 10. He is charged with unlawful confinement and sexual assault.
According to Saskatoon Police Service, on Jan. 3, a 33-year-old woman contacted police and reported that she had been unlawfully confined and sexually assaulted after being picked up by a taxi. Police say the woman was driven to several locations over a four-hour period before being taken home.
Investigators with the Sex Crime Unit believe other, similar incidents may have occurred and encourage anyone who may have information to contact them at 306-975-8300.
