Farm Credit Canada's (FCC) Young Farmer Summit gets underway Tuesday morning from the Queensbury Convention Centre at REAL District in Regina.
The event starts at 10 a.m. and wraps up around 3:30 p.m.
The summit provides an opportunity for young farmers and individuals who work in the agriculture industry to network and learn from experts, says Jason Fiske, Manager of Knowledge Products at FCC.
"We have a few different keynote speakers, and then we also have some breakout rooms. So people can pick and choose the topics that are relevant to them, and they're able to sort of choose their own adventure as far as what some of those speakers are. But then we congregate back in the main room for more keynotes to sort of end the day." Fiske said.
Various topics will be covered from succession planning to having a "CEO" mindset as farms become more complex, he adds.
"And we have our ag economists present a more macro view of what's happening in the industry. But we also cover topics like mental health, innovation on the farm, financial management, and a lot more too."
FCC notes feature speakers include Evan Shout, Co-founder and Chief Financial Officer of Maverick Ag; renowned author and speaker Dr. Tom Deans, who specializes in family wealth transfers; and Sage Walker, a two-time Olympian for Team Canada who grew up on a cattle ranch in southern Alberta.
From previous events, Fiske notes people who've attended found the connections they make are just as valuable as the speakers on stage.
"I think it provides energy and inspiration, but also a bit of a plan for people to take away from the day and put to work when they get back to the farm." he said.
