REGINA — Despite heavy snowfall and difficult driving conditions, the Regina Police Service says only four traffic collisions were reported between midnight and 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Remarkably, none of the crashes resulted in injuries.
Police thanked motorists for adjusting to the conditions and making safety a priority during the storm, both inside the city and on surrounding roads.
Days with blowing snow, reduced visibility and slick streets often lead to spikes in collisions. But the Regina Police Service say today’s low number reflects drivers slowing down, giving each other space and taking extra precautions.
Police are reminding residents that winter safety starts with the basics: turn on your headlights and make sure taillights are visible, clear all snow and ice from windows, reduce speed and maintain a safe following distance.
With more snow possible this season, they say today’s outcome shows what can happen when drivers take winter conditions seriously.
