ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service (EPS) says it responded to a number of collisions Feb. 18, stemming from the winter storm that blasted the city.
According to the Feb. 18 police report, the EPS responded to several reports of vehicles colliding with snow removal equipment. The EPS reminds the public to approach this equipment cautiously and always give the right of way to vehicles performing snow removal.
During the snowstorm, the EPS said it also responded to a three-vehicle collision in the city’s east end. No injuries were reported from the collision, but one of the vehicles had to be towed as it was undriveable.
A number of vehicles were reported to be stuck in the snow and abandoned. The EPS reminds the public that if your vehicle is stuck in the snow, activate the vehicle’s flashing amber lights, and report the location and details of how removal will be arranged to reduce the likelihood of the vehicle being towed away for being abandoned in an unsafe location.
The EPS received numerous parking complaints but all were related to the presence of snow ridges temporarily left on the streets. Police will continue to monitor complaints as the city works to remove snow from the streets.
Also on Feb. 18, police received an uttering threats complaint. The EPS said two individuals were having a dispute and one party thought he had been threatened. Police reviewed the communications between the individuals and determined that it did not constitute a threat.
The EPS received a request for a well-being check on a woman in which the caller did not know her current location. Members located the individual at a residence in Estevan and determined she was safe. The EPS said additional follow-up by the Police and Crisis Team will happen in the following days.
A complaint came in Feb. 17 of criminal harassment through repeated emails. The EPS said the matter remains under investigation.
The EPS received a report of a missing youth. After extensive inquiries, the EPS said he was located with a group of friends and taken home to his parent.
