LOVE – Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit is investigating two deaths in Love, Sask.
On Feb. 19 at approximately 12 p.m., Nipawin RCMP received a report of two dead individuals at a residence in Love.
Officers immediately responded to the residence and located two dead adults inside. They have been identified as a 77-year-old woman and an 81-year-old man.
Preliminary investigation has determined that the deceased man and woman were members of the same family. Police say they are not providing their names or other identifying information due to Privacy Act obligations. Their family members have been notified and victim services made available to them. Police are asking news partners and the public to please respect their privacy at this time.
Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit is taking the lead on the investigation with the assistance of the Saskatchewan Coroners Service. As a result of the initial investigation, it is believed the 77-year-old woman died as a result of homicide and the 81-year-old man died as a result of self-inflicted injuries.
The Homicide Investigation Unit continue to investigate. Investigators advise there will be an increased police presence in Love for an undetermined amount of time.
The Homicide Investigation Unit is not seeking additional suspects in regards to this incident and police do not anticipate having further updates related to the investigation as no charges will be laid.
