REGINA — Frost Regina 2026 is heading into its final weekend, as event organizers are keeping an eye on cooler temperatures.
On Saturday morning, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is forecasting temperatures with the wind chill sitting at -37 C.
“The Frost team is looking at the weather and making sure that it's safe for everyone attending, but also for employees and volunteers,” said Teale Orban, director of destination stewardship with Tourism Regina.
Orban said each location for Frost Regina has parameters for dealing with colder temperatures.
“Say at REAL (Regina Exhibition Association Limited), they have sort of a base temperature that they determine whether they should go forward or not.”
Orban encouraged visitors to check out their website for updates on event status.
While organizers deal with colder temperatures, large snowfall in the city has created a “wonderful ambiance.”
“We were starting to get pretty brown [with the slushy snow], and now we're pretty frosty, and that's exactly what the event's all about. And so yeah, the more snow, the better.”
Orban noted the snow will add to the hill and create a platform for people skiing down the hill at REAL.
This weekend, Frost Regina will have:
- Frost Tails Downtown (Feb. 20-22);
- Frost Restaurant Week at Downtown (Feb. 20-22);
- Joylab at Cornwall Centre (Feb. 20-22);
- Frost Circuit (Feb. 20-21);
- Frost Regina at Downtown (Feb. 20-22);
- Winter’s Starting Line at Real District (Feb. 21-22);
- Snowflake Printmaking at Central Library (Feb. 21);
- Disney’s Frozen at Globe Theatre (Feb. 21-22);
- Frozen-Inspired Hair Experience and Balloon Bar (Feb. 21-22).
Notably, Frost Regina at Wascana Centre won’t be taking place this week.
With two weekends wrapped up, Orban said they’ve received positive feedback from partners of the event.
“So far, [the] PCC (Provincial Capital Commission) had great numbers. I won't report official numbers yet, but they're very happy with the numbers.”
He added, “REAL [is] very happy with the numbers that they've gotten and just anecdotally being there all these weekends, there’s a ton of energy at these hubs.”
