SASKATOON — A 35-year-old man is facing multiple weapons charges after police responded to a report of a firearm being pointed at a group of people in the Mayfair area early Saturday morning.
Police were called around 3:30 a.m. on Feb. 22 to a home in the 1600 block of Avenue C North after it was reported that a man had aimed a gun at several people. The suspect fled before officers arrived.
Members of the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) Crime Reduction Team identified the suspect through their investigation and later located him at a business in the 3300 block of Fairlight Drive. With help from the SPS Tactical Support Unit, officers arrested the man without incident. He was found to be carrying a knife.
A search was then executed at a home in the 3100 block of 33rd Street West, where officers seized a sawed-off rifle, ammunition, and body armour.
The man is charged with several weapons-related offences as well as breaching multiple court-imposed conditions.
