SASKATOON — A 23-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police intercepted a stolen vehicle late Sunday night.
At about 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 2, Saskatoon police officers were called to a hotel in the 1300 block of 8th Street East after a 22-year-old woman reported her 2014 Dodge Charger had been stolen. Police located the vehicle in the area and attempted a traffic stop. The driver refused to comply, continuing at low speeds while evading officers.
Tire deflation devices were used successfully, bringing the vehicle to a stop near Jackson Avenue and Taylor Street. The suspect tried to flee on foot but was apprehended by members of the SPS Canine Unit. He was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries for a dog bite.
He was charged with evading police, dangerous driving, impersonation, and three counts of breaching court conditions.
The woman who filed the complaint was found to be providing false information to officers and is facing a mischief charge.
