Traffic backed up and cars in the ditch on Ring Road

Ring Road is not looking good this afternoon.

According to the Regina Police Service, there have been at least 6 accidents along Ring Road that they’ve received reports of since 9 a.m. this morning.

“It is very icy on all our roads today.  That rime frost is blowing from the trees and fences and settling on the roadway, making road conditions deceptively treacherous,” says Elizabeth Popowich with the RPS.

So far there are no reported injuries,

Five out of the six accidents have happened after noon time and all are at various locations along Ring Road.

Drivers have been calling 620 CKRM as well as our sister station The Wolf 104.9 saying that Ring Road all around is extremely icy and slippery.

According to the callers, many cars are in the ditch.

People have been watching other drivers swerve and hit the ditch between Victoria Avenue, Winnipeg Street, and Dewdney Avenue.

There have also been reports of semis stopping on Ring Road due to the bad driving conditions.

A local courier called The Wolf just after 1 p.m. and shared that drivers are being diverted off of Ring Road at the Macdonald Street exit because there are so many cars in the ditch that need to be helped.

People are advised to slow down no matter where they’re driving in the city.
