Death investigation underway after body pulled from Wascana Lake

A death investigation is underway after Regina Police and Fire pulled a man’s body from Wascana Lake Thursday evening.

In a news release sent out early Friday morning, officers say they were called to the band shell on the north side of the lake shortly after 7:30 p.m..

Witnesses say they saw a person swimming in the lake that disappeared under the water, police found clothing and a cell phone close to where the man was said to have entered the lake.

Police say the man was pulled from the water and pronounced dead about two hours after they were called to the scene, his name and age have not been released at this time.

RPS say they have gathered witness statements, but request anyone with more information to call them or Crime Stoppers.
