Buddhist Centre looks for funds to fix broken boiler

The Buddhist Centre of Regina is trying to raise money to fix the building’s boiler.

The heat source broke down nearly two weeks ago and the drop in temperature has had an impact.

The centre says there is no money to fix the boiler because it lives by donations day-to-day.

The cost of a new boiler is about $45,000.

Staff says the building was built in 1927 and used to be the Albert Library. The Buddhist Centre purchased it in June 2018.

They say the building has heritage status so they believe the City of Regina will pay for half the cost.

In the meantime, the centre says it is in the process of starting a GoFundMe page and thinking of other ways to raise money to get heat back in the building.
